ILOILO – Authorities have filed charges against 26 individuals caught engaging in illegal cockfighting in Barangay Pandac, Pavia, Iloilo.
Police Lieutenant Gabriel Manguera, Deputy Chief of Police of the Pavia Municipal Police Station, confirmed in an interview with Bombo Radyo that the suspects were charged for violating Presidential Decree 1602, or the Anti-Illegal Gambling Law.
Among those arrested, two have posted bail of ₱24,000 each, while the remaining 24 are still detained.
Manguera also stated that some individuals managed to escape during the operation, but their whereabouts remain unknown.
