An estimated 42 passengers were injured after a private jeepney met an accident in Barangay Maninila, Miagao, Iloilo on Black Saturday.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Captain Francis Donne Lomahan, Chief of the Miagao Municipal Police Station, stated that the jeepney came from Barangay Baong, Alimodian, Iloilo and was en route to San Joaquin, Iloilo for an outing at a beach resort.
Initial reports revealed that the injured passengers included 13 minors and 19 adults, all of whom were brought to the Guimbal District Hospital for treatment.
Authorities added that the jeepney was overloaded, with some passengers even riding on the roof.
According to the initial investigation, a tire of the vehicle may have burst, which likely caused the accident. However, further investigation is still ongoing.
