ILOILO CITY- An Ilonggo from Pototan will play for the Philippines in the biggest university basketball tournament in Asia. One Ilonggo is part of the Philippine team competing in the largest university basketball event in Asia this 2024.
Seven countries will compete in the event held at the grand Kaohsiung Dome in Taiwan. The BLIA Cup, under the Fo Guang Cup Basketball Invitation, is scheduled from July 23 to 28.
The Philippine Team is represented by Guang Ming College of Tagaytay under the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons OSD Coach Bo Perasol and Coach Paul Ramos. Completing the Philippine Team is the Ilonggo, Kent John Parren̈as from Pototan, the only Ilonggo varsity player of Guang Ming College.
Aside from the Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia, United States, and Japan are also part of the tournament.
