An 80-year-old woman died after being run over by a pickup truck in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City.
The victim was identified as Angelita Casquite, a resident of St. Francis Village in the same barangay.
According to the initial police investigation, the victim was walking along the side of the road when she slipped and fell into the path of an oncoming pickup truck.
Due to the sudden fall, the 50-year-old driver, a resident of Barangay Mansilingan, was unable to avoid hitting the victim.
The truck ran over Casquite, causing severe head injuries.
Residents and barangay officials quickly responded to the incident, but Casquite was declared dead on the spot due to the fatal wounds.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if the driver has any liability or if the incident was purely accidental.
