Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. expressed surprise but also optimism over the recent November survey showing Anilao Mayor Lee Ann Debuque leading in the race for vice governor.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Governor Defensor acknowledged that the survey results are a good indicator for Debuque, especially since she is still in the early stages of her political career.

He noted that her family has not been involved in provincial politics, not even at the district level, which makes the survey’s positive outcome noteworthy.

Defensor also pointed out that people may not immediately recognize a candidate if they have low awareness of them.

However, he remains confident that the people will choose Debuque, citing her youth, intelligence, and dynamic personality as key factors that will appeal to voters.
