ILOILO – An agrarian reform beneficiary, Engeline Magbanua, a resident of Barangay Aldeguer, Sara, Iloilo, could not hold back her emotions after officially receiving her land title from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) earlier today.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Magbanua expressed her joy and relief, sharing that her family had waited for 11 long years to be recognized as legitimate landowners.

“After so many sacrifices and challenges, this day marks a significant milestone for us. Now, we have the official proof that the land is ours,” Magbanua said, visibly moved by the occasion.

She also highlighted the role of local officials within the DAR, mentioning that having Ilonggos in the agency made the process smoother for beneficiaries. Specifically, Magbanua noted the efforts of DAR Undersecretary Jesry Palmares, a native of Passi City, Iloilo, whose roots and understanding of local concerns helped facilitate the requirements.

Magbanua pledged to take good care of the land entrusted to her family and extended her heartfelt gratitude to the DAR and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for what she described as an early Christmas gift.

The Department of Agrarian Reform continues to implement programs aimed at empowering agrarian reform beneficiaries, with land distribution being one of its cornerstones. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to uplifting the lives of farmers across the country.
