Former Iloilo City Councilor Plaridel Nava II has released an open letter to President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr., following the president’s decision to grant executive clemency to former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Nava revealed that he possesses several screenshots proving that Mabilog campaigned against President Marcos during the 2022 presidential elections.

According to Nava, the screenshots show that Mabilog referred to President Marcos as the “World’s Greatest Thief.”

However, Nava noted that the controversial posts had since been deleted. The first post from Mabilog was dated March 3, 2021, but the subsequent post was dated August 3, 2024.

This suggests that posts from March 4, 2021, to August 2, 2024, were no longer available.

Nava also pointed out that many Ilonggos were aware that Mabilog was a known supporter of the Leni Robredo-Kiko Pangilinan tandem during the 2022 elections.

In response to the executive clemency, Nava confirmed that he plans to take the issue to the Supreme Court to challenge the decision.

The clemency, which was granted in relation to a case involving “dishonesty” tied to alleged undisclosed wealth filed by former Iloilo Provincial Administrator Manuel ‘Boy’ Mejorada, now allows Mabilog to run for any government position.

This development raises further questions regarding the fairness and transparency of the executive clemency process, particularly in light of the allegations against Mabilog.
