ILOILO CITY – A 23-year-old man was killed after the motorcycle he was driving crashed into a truck at the intersection of Circumferential Road-Sunset Boulevard in Barangay Sooc, Arevalo, Iloilo City.

The victim was identified as Bryan Beltran, a married waiter from Kasing-Kasing, Molo, Iloilo City. His passenger, Noel Panganiban, 25, a waiter from Barangay San Nicolas, Oton, Iloilo, sustained injuries in the accident.

The truck was driven by Elizer Gomez, 49, a resident of Awihao, Santa Rosa, Danao City, Cebu.

According to Police Chief Master Sergeant Dennis Yee of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit of the Iloilo City Police Office, Beltran had been drinking alcoholic beverages at Sunset Boulevard before the crash.

Reports indicate that Beltran was supposed to drop off his passenger in Oton but lost control of his motorcycle due to intoxication. The impact of the collision caused severe head injuries, leading to internal bleeding.

He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Meanwhile, his passenger sustained injuries to his forehead and knee.

Truck helper Sim Sanchez stated that the motorcycle was speeding before the crash. He added that they were caught by surprise when the motorcycle suddenly slammed into the rear of their truck.

When they got down to check, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood and unresponsive.

Authorities are conducting further investigations into the incident.
