ILOILO CITY – The mobile application “Tuon ta!” is expected to play a significant role in preserving the Hiligaynon language.
Developed by Bachelor of Elementary Education students from West Visayas State University (WVSU), the app aims to promote and sustain the use of Hiligaynon among young learners.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, WVSU Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Maria Asuncion Christine Dequilla shared that aside from the College of Education, the College of Information and Communication Technology also contributed to the app’s development.
According to Dequilla, “Tuon ta!” features the history of Iloilo and the proper use of the Hiligaynon language.
Designed for children from Kindergarten to Grade 3, the app includes educational games, poetry, and language lessons.
It was revealed that the project began in 2023 before it was finally introduced to the public.
