ILOILO – Police are investigating robbery and a long-standing grudge as possible motives behind the fatal hacking of a fish vendor in Barangay Nueva Union, Passi City.

The victim, identified as “Alias Nick,” was a legal-aged fish vendor from Ajuy, Iloilo, who had been temporarily residing in Passi City. He was reportedly the sibling of a former Sangguniang Bayan member in Ajuy.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Lieutenant Colonel Benjo Clarite, chief of Passi City PNP, stated that robbery is being considered as a possible motive, as the victim’s belongings were scattered inside the house, along with loose coins.

Nick’s fellow vendor became concerned when he failed to show up to sell fish. Upon checking his residence, the colleague discovered him lying in a pool of blood with hack wounds on his left neck and hand, injuries that led to his death.

Authorities believe the attack occurred inside the victim’s home, as traces of blood were found inside, suggesting that he may have managed to run outside before collapsing.

The Passi City PNP is also facing challenges in identifying witnesses, as the victim lived alone, and his house was far from other residences. Investigations are ongoing.#
