Iloilo City, Philippines — The Local Economic Enterprise Office (LEEO) has confirmed that the planned relocation of vendors in Iloilo City’s public markets will not push through this May.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, LEEO Head Maricel Mabaquiao said an initial meeting was already held with vendors and the Iloilo City Hall’s Committee on Markets to discuss the relocation plan and the current condition of the markets.
Mabaquiao explained that vendors were informed of the reasons behind the delay, citing ongoing construction and unfinished portions of the market facilities as key factors.
The affected markets include La Paz Big Market, Jaro Big Market, Iloilo Terminal Market, and Central Market.
As part of the preparations, the LEEO is currently conducting on-the-spot inspections and interviews with stall owners to assess the situation and readiness for future relocation.
