Ginkumpirma sang Malacañang ang pag-appoint ni President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. kay Court Administrator Raul Villanueva bilang bag-o nga associate justice sang Supreme Court.
“Appointment of Raul Villanueva as new SC Justice is confirmed po,” suno kay Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro.
Si Villanueva nga tumandok sang Ilocos Sur amo ang una nga Marcos appointee sa Korte Suprema.
Ini nga long-time career official amo ang nagbulos kay former Associate Justice Mario Lopez nga nakalab-ot na sa mandatory age nga 70 sang nagligad nga Hunyo 4.
Nag-umpisa ang karera ni Villanueva sa judiciary sang 2002 bilang presiding judge sang Las Piñas City Regional Trial Court Branch 255. Nagserbe man siya bilang executive judge sang Las Piñas RTC.
Nakuha sini ang iya nga bachelor’s degree in economics kag bachelor of laws pareho halin sa University of the Philippines.
Antes ang iya appointment, nagserbe siya sa Office of the Court Administrator halin sang 2022, ang opisina nga may katungdanan sa pag-assist sa Supreme Court sa “exercise of administrative supervision” sa tanan nga korte santo sa nakabutang sa Konstitusyon.
Nahibaluan nga magluwas kay Villanueva, puno sang Duterte appointees ang High Court. Sa 15 ka current members sang SC en banc, 12 ang appointed sang immediate former president lakip na si Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo.#
