Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala continues her impressive rise in the global women’s tennis scene, achieving a new career-high WTA ranking of No. 70 — her highest placement to date.
The 19-year-old Eala moved up the rankings following her performance at the Mutua Madrid Open, where she defeated Bulgaria’s Victoriya Tomova in the first round.
Her historic win over world No. 1 Iga Swiatek at the Miami Open in March propelled her into the semifinals of the WTA1000 tournament — a groundbreaking achievement for Philippine tennis that helped secure her spot in the WTA Top 100.
Eala is expected to compete next at the Italian Open from May 6 to 18, where she may once again face top players like Jessica Pegula and Madison Keys.
In addition, Eala is set to participate in the prestigious Roland Garros (French Open) from May 25 to June 8, coinciding with her 20th birthday on May 23, 2025.
