Erin Patterson, 50, is currently on trial in Australia after being accused of poisoning three elderly relatives who later died.
Authorities claim Patterson served a dish containing death cap mushrooms in a Beef Wellington meal at her home in Leongatha, Victoria, in July 2023. The meal allegedly led to the deaths of her in-laws, Gail and Donald Patterson, as well as her sister-in-law, Heather Wilkinson. Heather’s husband, Ian Wilkinson, survived but was left critically ill.
Patterson has strongly denied the charges, insisting the incident was a tragic accident. However, during the trial, investigators revealed they had discovered an internet search history about death cap mushrooms on a computer in her home.
Patterson claimed she could not remember whether she was the one who searched for the information online.
The case has garnered widespread media attention due to the unusual circumstances and conflicting accounts surrounding the deaths. The trial is expected to conclude later this month.
