Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, who captivated audiences as Shan Cai in the legendary drama Meteor Garden, has sadly passed away at the age of 48. Barbie died from pneumonia caused by the flu during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Her sister, Dee Hsu, shared the tragic news through her agent, expressing deep sorrow over the loss.
Dee Hsu wrote, “We were all together in Japan, and my dear, kindhearted sister Barbie passed away from influenza-induced pneumonia. She has left us.”
She also shared her gratitude for the time they spent together, saying, “I will always be grateful to her and miss her!”
Barbie Hsu is survived by her South Korean husband, DJ Koo Jun-yup, and their two children, a 10-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei.
Barbie’s role as the spirited San Cai made her an icon, and her untimely passing has left fans mourning the loss of a beloved star.
