TEXAS, USA – The death toll from the catastrophic floods in Texas has risen to 24, with several young girls still missing after being swept away from a Christian summer camp.

Rescue efforts are underway following the rapid rise of the Guadalupe River, which surged to 26 feet in less than an hour. The flooding destroyed mobile homes, vehicles, and holiday cabins, disrupting July 4th Independence Day celebrations across the region.

Authorities have launched a large-scale search and rescue operation, focusing particularly on Camp Mystic, located just outside Kerrville in northwestern San Antonio. Of the 750 girls who attended the summer camp, 25 are currently unaccounted for.

Several counties, including areas in Hill Country and the Concho Valley, have declared a state of calamity. Washed-out roads and downed communication lines have further complicated rescue efforts.

U.S. President Donald Trump described the tragedy as “shocking” and “terrible,” promising additional federal assistance to support the affected communities.

Search operations using helicopters, drones, and boats are expected to continue until all missing individuals are accounted for.
