MANILA, Philippines — The deportation case against ousted Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo has gained significant momentum following a ruling from the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) declaring her a Chinese national and not a Filipino citizen.

In a statement, Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado confirmed that deportation proceedings against Guo had been underway for some time. He hailed the court’s decision as a major victory for national security.

“This case reveals how a foreign national was able to infiltrate the government by using fake documents and a fabricated identity,” said Viado, emphasizing the implications of the case on the country’s public institutions.

The court’s ruling not only nullified Guo’s position as mayor but also officially affirmed that she is ineligible to hold public office. According to the BI, this supports findings in her immigration records and biometric data identifying her as Chinese national Guo Hua Ping.

“This legal confirmation further strengthens our basis for ongoing efforts to safeguard the country’s borders and institutions,” Viado added.

Guo has been in detention for nearly ten months while facing multiple charges, including qualified human trafficking, money laundering, and graft. Authorities link her to a transnational criminal network involved in operating scam hubs in Bamban, Tarlac.

The BI chief also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to fully supporting ongoing investigations to ensure that Guo is held accountable under the full force of the law.
