ILOILO CITY – A dermatologist has cautioned the public about the potential side effects of using steroids, emphasizing the importance of proper medical guidance.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Dr. Jennifer Grendel Ganzon Bernardo, a Fellow of the Philippine Dermatological Society, stated that corticosteroids are generally safe when used for a short period and under proper supervision.
According to Bernardo, the side effects vary depending on the type of steroid. One common issue is skin thinning, especially due to excessive use of topical corticosteroids.
She also warned against self-medication, stressing that improper use of steroids can lead to harmful effects on the body.
Bernardo advised individuals experiencing adverse reactions to consult a doctor immediately to prevent complications.
