The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has directed the Philippine Consulate in Guangzhou, China, to immediately extend assistance to three Filipinos reportedly detained in China on allegations of espionage.
According to DFA spokesperson Teresita Daza, the consulate will provide legal aid to the arrested individuals as part of the government’s commitment to protecting the rights of Filipinos abroad.
“We are in constant coordination with Chinese authorities to determine the exact circumstances behind their arrest,” Daza said.
She assured the public that the government will not abandon the detained Filipinos and will do everything possible to support them.
