The Department of Health (DOH) has issued a public reminder to be cautious of one’s health while celebrating the holiday season.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Dr. Rodney Labis, Head of the Health Service Delivery Division at the Iloilo Provincial Health Office, emphasized the importance of preventing “holiday heart syndrome,” a condition that can lead to serious health issues like stroke, especially when individuals focus solely on festivities and overeating.
To avoid such health complications, Dr. Labis recommended maintaining a healthy lifestyle through proper diet, regular exercise, and discipline.
Additionally, the DOH reminded the public to be mindful of travel safety during the holidays. It is essential to ensure that vehicles are in good condition, with adequate battery charge, functioning lights, oil, gas, and water, and that brakes, engines, and tires are properly maintained.
The public was also advised to avoid driving while intoxicated or fatigued to prevent accidents. The DOH further cautioned against the use of mobile phones and texting while driving.
This holiday season, the DOH continues to encourage vigilance and self-care to ensure a safe and healthy celebration for all.
