Face-to-face classes from pre-school to senior high school in Iloilo City remain suspended today, as the forecasted heat index is expected to reach 42 degrees Celsius.
This level falls under the danger category, prompting authorities to advise the public to take extra precautions against heat-related illnesses.
The class suspension covers both public and private schools in the city.
According to the latest executive order issued by Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, face-to-face classes are automatically suspended if the forecasted heat index reaches 41 degrees Celsius or higher.
School officials are once again urged to shift to alternative delivery modes of instruction to ensure the continuity of learning without compromising the safety of students.
Meanwhile, university presidents and school administrators at the tertiary level are also encouraged to consider adopting similar measures to protect college students during the ongoing hot weather conditions.
