The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched an extensive investigation into potential connections between a recent terror attack in New Orleans and another incident in Las Vegas.
Authorities believe that the suspect behind the New Orleans attack, where a pickup truck plowed into a crowd on the historic Bourbon Street, may have had accomplices. The tragic incident led to the deaths of 15 people and injuries to dozens more.
International correspondent Bombo Mary Drake reported that the man behind the New Orleans attack posted a video on social media suggesting he was inspired by ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria). The suspect, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, a U.S.-born citizen and Army veteran from Texas, rented the truck used in the deadly assault. Authorities discovered an ISIS flag inside the vehicle, and the FBI is now working to determine whether Jabbar had any affiliations with terrorist organizations.
Jabbar served in the U.S. Army from 2007 to 2020, with his service spanning roles in human resources and information technology. He was deployed to Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010 and later joined the Army Reserve until his departure in 2020, having attained the rank of staff sergeant.
Law enforcement agencies are also investigating any potential link between the New Orleans truck attack and a bombing that occurred outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, involving a Tesla Cybertruck. The FBI continues to gather intelligence to ascertain the full scope of these incidents.
