Former patrolman Francis Fontillas has been arrested by authorities on charges of inciting to sedition, according to a statement from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

The arrest stems from Fontillas’ controversial statements posted on his social media account criticizing the government, particularly following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte. His comments were deemed seditious under Philippine law.

The Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 224 issued the warrant of arrest, with bail set at ₱36,000.

Fontillas had previously resigned from the police force after being summoned by the Quezon City Police District regarding his online statements. His resignation followed shortly after he aired his sentiments online, which have now led to legal consequences.

Authorities have yet to release further details on the case or any upcoming court proceedings.
