Former Archbishop of Washington Theodore McCarrick has passed away at the age of 94.
The news was confirmed by his successor, Cardinal Robert McElroy.
According to reports, McCarrick died due to old age and declining health.
McCarrick resigned from the College of Cardinals in 2018 following allegations of sexual abuse involving minors. In 2019, the Vatican laicized him after finding him guilty of the said charges.
