Doc Nanay’s recent post referring to a screenshot of a Bombo Radyo report as “fake news” was not intended to discredit or malign the station. She has previously worked with Bombo Radyo in delivering public health programs and recognizes its credibility and longstanding commitment to public service.
The post was issued in response to circulating screenshots claiming ₱1.7 billion worth of incomplete DPWH projects.
These materials appear to have caused public confusion. The figures cited were reportedly drawn from the DPWH Transparency Portal, which may not yet reflect the latest district and regional data used in official briefings provided to Doc Nanay in the performance of her oversight functions. The timing of the circulation also coincided with the recent visit of Secretary Vince Dizon to Iloilo City—not Iloilo’s 1st District—where concerns were raised over delays in the implementation of key infrastructure projects.
It is also worth noting that Bombo Radyo reportedly sought clarification from the relevant DPWH District and Regional Offices but did not receive an immediate response, which may have further contributed to the misunderstanding.
In this light, we respectfully call on the DPWH to continue strengthening and regularly updating its Transparency Portal to ensure that both media partners and the public have access to accurate, timely, and contextualized information. A well-informed media sector remains essential to transparent and accountable governance.
