ILOILO CITY – BAREFOOTED, she stood out among the athletes from Estancia, Iloilo as she made the dash for the 400 meter run at the 2019 Iloilo Schools Sports Council Meet.

Meet Shane Bullos, grade 7 student who chose to do what she does best -run – nevermind that she does not have the right running shoes.

Shane’s father is a construction worker while her mother stays at home.

Shane is the Third amongst four siblings.

Her parents could not afford to get her the spike running shoes. And so to resolve the problem, they used gauze to wrap Shane’s feet for protection against cuts and scratches.

And thanks to that solution, Shane said her running has been pain-free. Plus, she shares, she sort of got used to it anyway.

Yet candidly, Shane admitted, she would love to wear spikes and own one for her competition.

In all these, Shane shares her joy and pride to be part of the Iloilo Schools Sports Council Meet 2019, with running shoes or barefooted.

Shane won a silver medal in the 400 meter run.

According to her coach, Jose Beldad Jr., the Local Government Unit of Estancia gives support albeit wanting.

Coach Beldad is all praises to Shane saying she has never complained and stays positive throughout her training.

Come training time, Shane would use regular running shoes and that has never posed a problem.

Since Shane’s story came out, it has touched a lot of strangers. To date, numerous donors gave money for Shane’s spike running shoes. Shane’s story is one of hardwork and dedication. With or without shoes.
