The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has confirmed that they have sent a formal request to the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Incorporated (IFFI) seeking approval for signal jamming in specific areas during the Dinagyang Festival 2025.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines, spokesperson for the ICPO, explained that this request is part of the security framework for major events. According to her, the police are only asking for signal jamming in designated areas where activities related to the festival will take place, and the loss of signal will be temporary.
Sangrines also mentioned that further discussions are planned with the Iloilo City Government regarding the necessary jamming devices to implement this security measure. She emphasized that the police are prepared to deploy additional personnel to ensure strict security during the festival.
It is worth noting that as of now, the Iloilo City Council has not yet received any official communication from the police regarding the signal jamming request, which was initially sent in December.
