𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗜𝗟𝗢 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 – Waste collection in Iloilo City has increased by an estimated 5 to 10 percent during this year’s New Year celebration.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Engr. Niel Ravena, head of the General Services Office (GSO), revealed that on a regular day, the city collects around 400 tons, or more than 360,000 kilograms, of waste.

However, this New Year, the collection reached 440 tons, or more than 408,000 kilograms.

Ravena noted that most of the collected waste consists of cardboard, spoiled fruits, and firecracker remnants.

This year, he observed a reduction in the amount of waste from firecrackers, likely due to the rain that coincided with the New Year’s festivities.
