ILOILO CITY – The Fluvial and Solemn Foot Procession, the religious highlight of the Dinagyang Festival 2025, will take place this afternoon, with preparations in full swing to ensure a meaningful and safe event.
The Catholic Church, in collaboration with the Philippine Coast Guard Iloilo, will enforce strict measures for the procession scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.
The fluvial procession will start from the Philippine Ports Authority terminal in Fort San Pedro, Iloilo City, traversing the Iloilo River and Iloilo Strait.
According to Mr. Rito Carlos “Judgee” Peña, Chairman of the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Incorporated, 44 floating vessels will participate in the event. To prioritize safety, each vessel will operate at only 50% capacity, with devotees accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.
At 2:30 PM, Bombo Radyo Iloilo will lead the praying of the Holy Rosary as part of the spiritual activities.
After the fluvial procession, a solemn foot procession will commence, beginning at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand and culminating at San Jose de Placer Church.
This year’s procession will focus exclusively on the image of Senior Santo Niño, emphasizing its religious significance.
In light of these events, maritime travel between Iloilo City and Guimaras will be temporarily suspended from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM to accommodate the processions.
The Dinagyang Festival remains a cherished tradition in Iloilo City, drawing devotees and spectators alike to celebrate their faith and culture.
