Bryce James, the youngest son of NBA superstar LeBron James, has officially committed to the University of Arizona’s men’s basketball team. The announcement came via Instagram on January 2, 2025, marking an exciting new chapter for the talented 17-year-old.
Standing 6-foot-4, Bryce James is currently a senior at Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, California, following in the footsteps of his older brother Bronny. Ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 47 shooting guard in the 2025 recruiting class by 247Sports, Bryce was pursued by several programs before choosing the Wildcats over Duquesne University and Ohio State University.
With this commitment, Bryce joins an already impressive 2025 recruiting class under head coach Tommy Lloyd, alongside five-star recruit Dwayne Aristode. Arizona basketball has a proud legacy, with a history of developing NBA talent, and Bryce’s arrival adds another exciting player to their program.
LeBron James shared his pride and excitement for his son’s achievement on Instagram, writing: “🐻 DOWN??!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS MAXIMUS!! SO PROUD OF YOU!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🤎🤎🤎🥺🥺🥺🤴🏾”
This commitment makes Bryce James the second of LeBron’s sons to join Division I basketball, following Bronny’s brief time at USC before entering the professional ranks. Arizona, which is currently 7-5 this season, is looking to continue building on recent successes, including a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament last year.
As Bryce prepares to take the next step in his basketball career, he joins a program with a rich tradition of success, alongside players like Steve Kerr, Jason Terry, Deandre Ayton, and Lauri Markkanen. Arizona fans are eagerly anticipating what Bryce James will bring to the court in 2025.
