ILOILO CITY – Nagpagwa sang pahayag ang Legal Education Board kaangot sa nagakwestyon sa paghatag sang titulo nga Honoris Causa Doctor of Laws degree kay First Lady Atty. Liza Araneta-Marcos.

“West Visayas State University is compliant with Section 2(a) of LEB Memorandum Order No. 9 Series of 2017, in that it has existed as a higher education institution for more than 25 years, specifically for 38 years. It must be stressed that the 25-year requirement refers to the existence of the higher education institution, and not the legal education institution,” pahayag ni David.

Ikaduha sini nga ginkwestyon amo ang paghatag sang Honoris Causa sa isa ka incumbent nga faculty nga nagatumod sa First Lady.

“There is likewise compliance with Section 5 of the said LEBMO since the prohibition applies only to incumbent administrators, members of the faculty, and staff of the awarding institution. Per the submission of West Visayas State University to the LEB, the contract of service of Atty. Araneta-Marcos had already expired at the time of her nomination and conferment. Hence, at that time, she was no longer an incumbent faculty member,” dugang pa ni David.

Paathag sang Legal Education Board, sang gin-nominate ang First Lady, indi na siya incumbent nga Faculty member sang awarding institution gani mahimo ini magbaton sang Honoris Causa nga indi mahimo ihatag sa mga incumbent nga administrators, faculty, staff.

Gin-athag man sini nga deserving ang First Lady sang Honoris Causa bangud sa iya dedikasyon sa public service kag advocacy para sa legal education.

“The LEB is satisfied with West Visayas State University’s compliance with LEBMO No. 9 Series of 2017, which is why it unanimously approved the authority to confer the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws honoris causa to Atty. Araneta-Marcos. Further, the LEB concurs that Atty. Araneta-Marcos is deserving of the award in recognition of her dedication to public service and advocacy for legal education.”
