MANILA – Lotlot de Leon has revealed the details surrounding the wake and burial of her mother, Nora Aunor, one of the Philippines’ most beloved cinematic icons.
In an emotional post on Instagram, de Leon announced that the public wake for the National Artist will be held on April 19 and 20 at The Chapels at Heritage Park. The family has also set specific visiting hours for friends and loved ones who wish to pay their respects.
Aunor, who passed away at the age of 71, will be honored with a state funeral at Libingan ng mga Bayani on April 22. Additional information regarding the service will be shared in the coming days.
The National Commission for Culture and the Arts has confirmed that state necrological services will be conducted to pay tribute to Aunor’s unparalleled contributions to Philippine cinema and culture.
Nora Aunor, born Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, first rose to prominence as a singer in the 1960s, with her powerful voice capturing the hearts of Filipinos. Her successful transition into acting solidified her legacy, with landmark performances in films such as Himala (1982), Flor Contemplacion Story (1995), and Bulaklak sa City Jail (1984).
