The streets of Iloilo City came alive today with the spirited celebration of the Dinagyang Festival 2025 “Pamukaw”, setting the stage for the highly anticipated annual festival.
This year’s theme, “Buhi nga Pagtuo sa Kinabuhi sang mga Ilonggo” (Living Faith in the Lives of the Ilonggos), embodies the deep cultural and spiritual roots of the Ilonggo community.
The “Pamukaw” event aims to ignite the festive mood among Ilonggos as they prepare for the grand celebration honoring Señor Santo Niño in the coming months.
The overall theme for Dinagyang 2025 is “Iloilo Dinagyang 2025: Pasalamat kay Señor Santo Niño” (Gratitude to Señor Santo Niño).
Adding a romantic twist to the festivities, a touching moment stole the spotlight when a member of Tribu Salognon, made a surprise marriage proposal.
The heartfelt gesture drew loud applause and excitement from the crowd.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Jaz Mar Dongeto, the Dinagyang warrior behind the proposal, shared his motivation.
He saw the “Pamukaw” as the perfect opportunity to publicly express his love and seek the blessing of Señor Santo Niño for his relationship.
His girlfriend, Blessa Mae Alavanzas, joyfully accepted the proposal, bringing an extra layer of joy and celebration to the event.
This heartwarming proposal underscored the festival’s spirit of faith, community, and love, making the Dinagyang “Pamukaw” a truly unforgettable experience for everyone in attendance.
