ILOILO CITY- In response to the incident involving a motorist presenting a temporary license printed on paper, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) will be conducting coordination efforts with the Philippine National Police (PNP) to address the issue and disseminate information.

During an interview with Eric Lenard Tabaldo, the director of LTO Region 6, on Bombo Radyo, it was revealed that plastic driver’s license cards are currently unavailable. As a result, they are temporarily printing licenses on paper, some of which are not colored.

Tabaldo explained that this situation arose due to a department order they received, requiring all procurement processes worth P50 million and above to go through the Department of Transportation central office.

The shortage of plastic driver’s license cards is not limited to Western Visayas but affects the entire Philippines, according to Tabaldo. The plastic driver’s license cards are expected to be available around October or September of this year.

He also assured that the licenses printed on paper will be replaced with plastic driver’s license cards.

Tabaldo advised motorists to present their Official Receipt (OR) and Certificate of Registration (CR) at checkpoints, as these documents can be used to authenticate and validate their receipts.

The coordination between LTO and PNP aims to address the issue promptly and ensure that accurate information reaches the public regarding the availability of plastic driver’s license cards.
