Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Malacañang Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro assured the public that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has no intention of erasing the EDSA People Power Revolution from history.
In a press briefing, Castro clarified that declaring February 25 as a special working day is the President’s prerogative and does not prevent the public from commemorating the historic event.
“The declaration does not stop people from participating in EDSA-related activities,” she stated.
Castro further emphasized that the President never ordered the suspension of any commemoration, which could be interpreted as an attempt to erase EDSA from history.
“How can you erase history? History is history. The President cannot possibly remove it from history,” she stressed.
Her statement comes amid criticisms directed at the administration over its decision to make the anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution a regular working day this year.
