ILOILO CITY – A drunk man was arrested after showing a firearm to the female assistant of an Indian national who was collecting his debt in Barangay Osmeña, Iloilo City Proper.

The suspect, identified as alias Jerry, is a native of Antique but is temporarily residing in the said area.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Willy Banesio, a relative of Jerry, revealed that the suspect had borrowed money from the Indian national twice.

His latest loan amounted to ₱5,000, which required a daily payment of ₱300 until fully settled.

However, while drinking, Jerry was approached by the secretary for collection. Instead of paying, he allegedly brandished a firearm.

The assistant immediately sought help from a traffic auxiliary officer, who then reported the incident to the police.

Authorities recovered a revolver with five live bullets from Jerry’s possession.

He is now detained at Iloilo City Police Station 7 and will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) gun ban.
