Wildfires continue to wreak havoc in Los Angeles, California, claiming at least 25 lives and displacing thousands of residents as flames persist after more than a week.
Retired Fire Superintendent Stephen Jardeleza, a former Deputy Fire Marshal from Iloilo, shared insights in an interview with Bombo Radyo.
He revealed that the fires have been challenging to contain due to multiple outbreaks occurring in just a single day. “There’s a possibility of arson, but no solid evidence has been uncovered yet,” Jardeleza stated.
Compounding the crisis are natural conditions such as hurricane-force winds, extremely low humidity, and parched landscapes, all of which have accelerated the fire’s spread.
The Pacific Palisades area, one of the most affected communities, is also grappling with limited water supplies and low fire hydrant pressure, hindering firefighting efforts.
Authorities are continuing their investigations into the origins of the wildfires while prioritizing rescue operations and containment strategies.
The community remains on high alert as firefighters work tirelessly to control the devastating blazes.
