Filipino film icon and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, Nora Aunor, was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in a solemn state funeral held at exactly 12:00 noon today.
Aunor passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 71.
As a recognized National Artist, she was honored with a state funeral, which began with necrological services at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila, where family, friends, fellow artists, and devoted fans gathered to pay their final respects.
Her children, Lotlot and Ian de Leon, delivered heartfelt tributes, remembering their mother as “a light that will never fade.”
Several of her most iconic films, including “Himala” and “Bona”, were re-screened in recent days as part of commemorative events celebrating her remarkable contributions to Philippine cinema.
Aunor’s passing has left a deep void in the local film industry, but her legacy continues to live on in the hearts of generations of fans and artists inspired by her unparalleled talent.
