The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has issued an ashfall alert for the provinces of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental following a sudden ash emission from Mount Kanlaon at 4:11 AM today. The ash is moving westward, affecting surrounding areas.

In response to the ashfall, the NDRRMC has provided the following safety reminders for residents:

Wear face masks or use a damp cloth to cover your nose and mouth.
Stay indoors unless it is absolutely necessary to go outside.
Secure clean water for drinking and sanitation purposes.
