The National Security Council (NSC) has revealed that China is allegedly planning to interfere in the country’s upcoming elections this May.
According to NSC Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya, there are existing signs and information indicating that China is conducting covert operations within the country.
Malaya added that China is believed to have a preferred candidate in the elections, prompting them to interfere in the electoral process.
He did not name any specific individuals behind the operation, as those involved are reportedly hiding behind third-party individuals and local proxies in the Philippines.
