The number of residents affected by the recent eruption of Bulusan Volcano continues to rise, with over 24,000 families now impacted, according to the latest report from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Disaster Response Management.
As of the most recent update, a total of 24,404 families, or 110,090 individuals, across 73 barangays have been confirmed affected by the volcanic activity.
On May 1, the DSWD delivered additional Family Food Packs (FFPs) to 2,643 families in the towns of Magallanes and Bulan, both located in the province of Sorsogon.
Clean drinking water was also distributed to residents in the towns of Juban and Irosin, which were among the first areas hit by volcanic ashfall following the eruption that occurred on Monday, April 28.
The agency reported that it has so far distributed over ₱16 million worth of assistance to affected communities.
DSWD assured the public that more relief goods are ready for deployment as the situation continues to develop.
