𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗜𝗟𝗢 – A resident claiming ownership of land where a quarry operation is being conducted at the Tigum River in Brgy. Salacay, Cabatuan, Iloilo, has filed complaints three times with the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO).

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Atty. Cesar Emmanuelle Buyco, Jr., head of PGENRO, revealed that Maria Fe Cabucos, who claims ownership of the land, had lodged complaints with the office twice in 2022.

Following this, Cabucos also filed a complaint in 2024 through the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB).

Buyco explained that Cabucos often disagrees with the findings of their investigations, even accusing the office of being aligned with the mayor.

Further investigation revealed that the land Cabucos claims as her own is actually part of the river, which means it falls under public domain or is already government-owned.

According to Buyco, Cabucos has often criticized the office, including calling out Cabatuan Vice Mayor Ronilo Caspe during a Facebook live session.
