𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗜 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬, 𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗜𝗟𝗢 – The Philippine Army has launched an investigation into the death of a Corps Commander in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) in Passi City, Iloilo, allegedly due to depression caused by hazing inflicted by fellow cadets.

The victim, identified as JP Mombay, was a 3rd-year Bachelor of Science in Criminology student at Passi City College.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Iloilo, Colonel Jonathan Gayas, Group Commander of the 6th Regional Community Defense Group, Reserve Command of the Philippine Army, confirmed that their Community Defense Center in Iloilo is conducting the investigation.

Gayas stated that the investigation was being carried out in cooperation with the administration of Passi City College.

He emphasized that, like the victim’s family, they are also seeking to uncover the truth behind the alleged acts of violence, including blindfolding, paddling, and physical abuse by senior cadets as part of the initiation process.

The victim’s family and his girlfriend have previously admitted that the depression caused by the hazing incident led Mombay to take his own life.
