President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the commemoration of the 83rd Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) through a wreath-laying ceremony at the Dambana ng Kagitingan located at the Mount Samat National Shrine in Pilar, Bataan.

This year’s celebration carries the theme, “Kabayanihan ng Beterano: Sandigan ng Kaunlaran ng Bagong Pilipinas” (Veterans’ Heroism: Foundation of the New Philippines’ Progress). The President paid tribute to the role of Filipino veterans in the country’s fight for freedom and independence.

To further highlight the occasion, the Philippine Veterans Week is being observed from April 5 to 11, spearheaded by the Department of National Defense (DND), the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), and other government agencies.

After the event in Bataan, President Marcos proceeded to Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City, where he met with the families and beneficiaries of personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) who were Killed-in-Action/Killed-in-Police Operations and Wounded-in-Action/Wounded-in-Police Operations.

During a solemn gathering held at the Tejeros Hall, military, police, and support units were also recognized for their continued service in defending the nation and maintaining peace and order across the country.
