Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte has publicly pointed fingers at Iloilo 1st District Representative Janette Garin, accusing her of being behind the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte. In a fiery statement, Duterte condemned the ongoing impeachment efforts, labeling them as politically motivated and baseless.

Duterte claimed that Garin, alongside other lawmakers, was spearheading a move to rush through the impeachment proceedings without regard for merit. He called this maneuver a “sinister” political act aimed at undermining the Vice President’s leadership and tarnishing her reputation.

“I am appalled and enraged by the desperate and politically motivated efforts to railroad the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte,” said Rep. Paolo Duterte. “This is a clear act of political persecution, and I believe Rep. Garin is at the center of this baseless attack.”

The congressman warned that the administration’s reckless actions could backfire, citing the overwhelming support shown by Iglesia Ni Cristo members who rallied in defense of the Vice President. Duterte cautioned that dismissing such displays of public support would provoke a much greater storm of discontent that could destabilize the current political climate.

“If they were unfazed by the over one million rallying supporters of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, then they are blindly marching toward an even greater storm,” Duterte warned.

Rep. Paolo Duterte further emphasized that the impeachment attempt was not just a political move against VP Sara Duterte, but an affront to the will of the Filipino people. He vowed that the government’s efforts to silence opposition through fabricated accusations would ultimately backfire.

As the political drama unfolds, all eyes are now on the fate of Vice President Sara Duterte and the ongoing battle over the legitimacy of the impeachment complaint.
