Senate President Chiz Escudero has confirmed that the Senate is gearing up for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, scheduled to begin on July 30.

According to Escudero, the Senate has issued Special Order 2025-015 to formalize the trial preparations. Under this directive, the Senate Secretary has been appointed as the Clerk of Court, playing a key role in accordance with the Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Trials.

Several important Senate offices have also been designated to ensure the smooth conduct of the impeachment proceedings. The Office of the Senate Legal Counsel, the Office of the Deputy Secretary of Legislation, and the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms are responsible for ensuring that the process is properly executed and systematic. Meanwhile, the Deputy Secretary for Administrative and Financial Services will oversee the budget, supplies, and other logistical needs.

Escudero also stated that he has sent a letter to House Speaker Martin Romualdez regarding the matter. Likewise, the Vice President has been formally notified as part of the impeachment process.
