The Social Security System (SSS) has issued a warning to transport cooperatives for failing to pay the required monthly contributions for their members.
This comes after the SSS discovered that the Iloilo City Alliance of Operators and Drivers Transport Cooperative (ICAODTC) has not been remitting contributions for some of its members.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Amiel Genova, Senior Communications Analyst of SSS Visayas II, revealed that they received complaints from members of transport cooperatives regarding the non-payment of their contributions.
Genova emphasized that contributions should be paid monthly, not annually, as mandated by the SSS.
Furthermore, the state-run social insurer warned that it would file legal action against transport cooperatives if their drivers’ contributions remain unpaid by the end of the month.
SSS also advised employers to address this issue promptly to avoid further complications, stressing that workers are the ones ultimately affected by the lack of contribution payments.
