TUBUNGAN, ILOILO – A 33-year-old man, Aljohn Jalbuna, has admitted to entering a home in Barangay Ingay, Tubungan, Iloilo, where he killed an 18-year-old girl. Authorities have confirmed that prior complaints had already been filed against Jalbuna before the crime occurred.

According to Tubungan Municipal Police Station, Jalbuna was already among the seven “persons of interest” they were monitoring in relation to suspicious activities in the area. Police Lieutenant Neil Eric Goniabo, deputy commander of Tubungan PNP, revealed in an interview with Bombo Radyo that they had received multiple reports about Jalbuna’s frequent unauthorized entry into residents’ homes in the barangay.

Following leads from concerned citizens, the police, along with Barangay Captain Leonardo Tamises, went to the suspect’s residence. Upon arrival, they discovered Jalbuna with multiple wounds or lacerations on his neck.

Goniabo clarified that Jalbuna did not voluntarily surrender to authorities. Instead, he was found at his home and was arrested by the police.

Jalbuna did not resist arrest and immediately confessed to the killing. He also admitted to being a drug user. According to his own statement, he had been using illegal drugs, specifically shabu (methamphetamine), for about two months. He claimed that they sourced their supply from the Villa and Mandurriao areas in Iloilo City.

The suspect further admitted that he had taken shabu before breaking into the victim’s room. However, he strongly denied sexually assaulting the victim, stating that his only intent was to “tickle” her.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident while preparing the appropriate charges against Jalbuna.
