This follows the plan to move the RoRo operations from Dumangas Port to Fort San Pedro in Iloilo City.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Iloilo 4th District Board Member Rolando Distura expressed that the removal of the RoRo port in Dumangas could have a significant negative effect on the livelihoods of the people.
Distura also mentioned that while the transfer could bring advantages, there are also potential drawbacks, such as traffic congestion coinciding with the relocation of RoRo operations.
The concerned official further noted that this remains only a proposal, making it a challenge for them at the moment.
Distura is also working to discuss the matter with the Provincial Board to conduct a committee hearing with the concerned agencies.
It is known that the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has requested the endorsement and Resolution of No Objection (RONO) from the Iloilo City Council in order to implement the Port Zone Delineation Plan for the Port of Iloilo.
