The victims were identified as a 48-year-old driver, alias Miraluna, from Barangay Baldoza, La Paz, Iloilo City, and a 27-year-old backrider, alias Jomel, from Barangay Gua-an, Leganes.

The truck driver, alias JR, 38, is a resident of Leon, Iloilo.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Senior Master Sergeant Willy Aquidado, chief investigator of the Leganes Municipal Police Station, stated that the victims were traveling from Leganes and heading back to Iloilo City when their motorcycle crashed into the rear of the truck.

The truck, loaded with a backhoe, was reversing into a warehouse at the time of the incident.

Both victims sustained severe head injuries and multiple wounds across their bodies.

The driver was rushed to the Western Visayas Medical Center, while the backrider was brought to the Metro Iloilo Hospital and Medical Center. However, both were declared dead on arrival.

Initial investigations by the Leganes police suggest that the motorcycle was speeding and likely failed to notice the truck.

According to a preliminary discussion between the victims’ families and the truck driver, a possible settlement might be arranged.
